In Dean Koontz version, he’s made with the parts of criminals, murderers, pedophiles, rapists essentially from some of the most depraved of humanity, hence his homicidal rages. If we all remember the original story about Frankenstein by Mary Shelley then you remember how hideous in appearance he was made, the twist on Dean Koontz Frankenstein is a bit different, in many ways. He’s here at the Monastery you see to help quell his murderous homicidal urges because at one time it’s all he wanted to do, and so he’s been spending his time here at the monastery if only to quiet his rages for a time. He wakes from a nightmare that is prophetic. It begins in Tibet, where Deucalion is staying at the Rombuk Monastery with the monks. I love this series, such a cool take on the Mary Shelley, Frankenstein story. I read the series first in 2005, and I’ve read the series and listened to it multiple times since then. The first book in this Frankenstein series is the Prodigal Son. “For the power of man to make himself what he pleases means, as we have seen, the power of some men to make other men what they please.” – C.K.
